Ramos Lawn Care Service

This independent lawn care service needed to stand out among the vast competition.  As a start-up, this client needed a unique logo and branding in order present themselves like a legitimate, well-established company that values its clients just as much as it takes pride in the work they do.

Discovery

So, how do you blend together a “motorcycle enthusiast’s” culture with providing high-quality landscaping services to a diverse community?  Very carefully.  After a few conversations with Hector, I got to know what mattered most to him and what he wanted his brand’s visuals to communicate to potential clients.  The following is a list of ideals the brand needed to present.

Loyalty

Dependability

Process

In an industry that’s already deeply saturated with competition, we needed to spend time doing some research into how other similar companies in the area were representing and marketing themselves.   How do we bring together all the elements that make up the client’s values, ideals, and vision in a way that stands out from the pack?

Given his long history as a hardworking family man and avid motorcycle enthusiast, Hector’s new logo needed a little bit of “biker” flavor.  I found that a lot of motorcycle brands favored the classic font style resembling Magneto Bold.  This seemed to be an obvious choice to use for the primary mark – the company name. That seemed to satisfy the necessary nod to bikes.   It needed a simple sans serif so the remaining words in the company name would complement the company namesake.  We went with Bank Gothic Bold for its clean boxy lines.

The color palette was a bit of a no-brainer as we both knew Green had to be involved.  “Safety” Yellow and Orange were also chosen as accent colors, but would be used sparingly.  And, of course, biker Black couldn’t be left out.

We needed to incorporate an element that represented grass, so I incorporated a few blades of grass into the “R” in Ramos, and the ends of the letter to form a simple beveled edges to suggest a cutting blade.  This letter works well as part of the entire name as well as on its own as an icon.

The end result was a stylized type logo using a classic retro script font to resemble a brand that  could possibly be emblazoned on a motorcycle, but it also works perfectly well to represent the brand of a successful  landscaping company owned and operated by a hard working and hard riding family man that is a force to be reckoned with.

Deliverables

Once we established what the final logo would be, we discussed the need for some essential budget-friendly collateral materials and I was glad to put together some ideas for them.

We started with the business cards followed by flyers.  Those needed to clearly communicate the nature of his business while maintaining cohesiveness to the brand aesthetic.

Next, Hector wanted to take a more traditional approach to creating some marketing materials.  He wanted to make sure that client engagement with Ramos Lawn Service would be more personal, so we decided to go old-school with some holiday greeting cards and refrigerator magnet calendars.  Those were fun to design since we had more freedom to do something different with the look since greeting cards are meant to communicate a more personal message.  We also wanted the magnets to stand out on anyone’s fridge, so I suggested an edgy motorsport aesthetic.   This design was “right on,” as Hector would say, so it also became the new wrap design for the trailer.

The end results were everything the client wanted and more!

We look forward to working together on more awesome projects that will continue to help Ramos Lawn Care Service Poinciana, LLC expand its reach and grow its business!
